Ferdinand (2017): Bull-ieve in Yourself!

Ferdinand is an animated film that teaches you about the importance of being true to oneself and the value of friendship. Directed by Carlos Saldanha, known for his work on "Ice Age," the movie takes you on a heartwarming journey with a gentle bull who defies stereotypes.

The story revolves around Ferdinand (voiced by John Cena), a massive bull with an even bigger heart. Unlike the other bulls who dream of becoming fierce fighters in the bullfighting ring, Ferdinand has no interest in combat. Instead, he enjoys the serene life of smelling flowers and basking in the sun at Casa del Toro, a picturesque farm.

After a series of events, Ferdinand finds himself mistaken for a fierce bull and is taken away from his peaceful life to participate in bullfighting. Determined to return home, Ferdinand embarks on an epic adventure, accompanied by a hilarious group of misfit animal friends.

The animation in Ferdinand is bright and stunning, capturing the beauty of the Spanish countryside. The voice cast, including John Cena, Kate McKinnon, and Anthony Anderson, brings the characters to life with humor and heart. Ferdinand's belief in non-violence and his refusal to bow down to societal expectations send a powerful message about staying true to oneself. The film promotes empathy, understanding, and the importance of standing up against stereotypes.

The quirky animals are funny, the segments are great, everything is colorful - nothing we haven't seen before though. Yet, it reminds you to be kind, not to judge, and that it's okay to be different - a bull-ieve-in-yourself kind of story that leaves a smile on your face. What more is needed?
